How to Have a Happy New Year

Thursday Evening Online Buddhist Meditation Classes

Time: 7.00 pm – 8.30 pm

In ‘Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life’, Shantideva says, “All the happiness there is in this world arises from wishing others to be happy, and all the suffering there is in this world arises from wishing ourself to be happy.”

This month, we explore how, when we understand this truth and begin to live in accordance with it, our life will become harmonious and joyful.

We normally think that the main cause of our wellbeing and problems is situations and people. But if we look closely, we can see that they come from within our mind. Understanding this, we can learn how to increase our wellbeing and abandon our problems.

In this class we identify the main cause for our suffering, the delusion of self-cherishing. Through understanding the harm it produces in our lives, we naturally develop the determination to reduce and eventually eliminate it all together.

Jan 28 – The Advantages of Cherishing Others

In this class we explore the truth that all our present and future happiness and wellbeing depend upon our wish for others to be happy. By understanding this profound truth and applying it, our daily problems disappear and our lives become harmonious and peaceful.
