The purpose of meditation is to cultivate positive states of mind, conducive to peace and well-being, and overcome negative habits of mind. Happiness is a state of mind, therefore the real source of happiness lies in the mind, not in external situations. When our mind is peaceful we are free from worries and mental discomfort, and we experience true happiness.

We may have a wish to learn how to meditate, or to find out about Buddhism, but where do we start? Our walk-in classes are the perfect place to learn. The meditation classes we offer are suitable for anyone, whatever their level of interest, from those who seek simple relaxation and stress relief, to those who wish to learn about Modern Buddhism. Everyone is welcome.
Each month we offer a special introductory workshop designed specifically for beginners. Please check the calendar for dates.
The following weekly classes are designed for beginners, but you are welcome to attend any of our walk-in classes at the Centre:
A) No. We try to present Buddha’s teachings in a way that is accessible to everyone, and no religious commitment is required.
A) No. Everyone is welcome, including beginners. The classes are fully guided so all you need to do is show up.
A) No special clothing is required. Come as you are.
A) No. The classes focus on meditation and teachings alone. You can choose to sit on a chair or meditation cushion.
A) No. But you can ask questions if you want to.
A) KMC Canada is a registered, volunteer-run charity. Proceeds from our classes are used to run the beautiful space we currently offer and additional money is donated to the International Temple’s project.
